hi, bethany! i’m so happy you were able to take the time to chat with me today! so your band is on tour right now, i want to know whats in your beauty bag? what are your beauty essentials while on the road?

it’s really hard when youre touring, you dont get much sleep so you are constantly looking tired. that’s one of my biggest problems. i always look tired. so one of my favorite products right now is an eye de-puffer from kiehl’s. it has menthol in it that helps cool, and it feels like it’s opening your eyes for you. i use that in the morning, and sometimes in the van. ali (drummer) and i are both obsessed with bare minerals foundation. ali  is actually really obsessed with makeup…i’m not much of a makeup girl; but mascara is my favorite item.

is that an item you feel you can’t leave the house without?

i always have mascara in my bag, and when i don’t feel like putting any makeup on at all, i will put only mascara on and feel like “okay, i’m ready to go”.

i won’t go anywhere without mascara on. i feel like i look like a hot mess without it.

yeah, i feel like at least if i have that on, i’m  ok. but ali is obsessed with matching her eyeshadows to her outfit when she is on stage. we always stop at sephora when we can. she loves nars makeup and i pretty much stick just basic brown shadows for my eyes.

i love that ali is a nars girl! i have so many of their items, even some that i haven’t even worn yet.

ali’s makeup bag is huge. it’s like a train case with all these compartments that zip up. it’s hard when youre on tour, you end up feeling gross a lot, so i also use a facial toner spray that’s from lush. it automatically makes your face feel clean.  i used to work at lush, so i am pretty familiar with ingredients and what i should stay away from.

that’s great. it’s super important to know what’s in your cosmetics, and what you are putting on your skin.

yeah, i have really sensitive skin. so i can’t use just any skincare product, it can’t be full of parabens, or anything super cheap. ali can go into target and buy a facial mask for .99 cents and be ok, but if i use it i will end up with a rash. i am super picky, and i know what works best for my skin.

so , you had mentioned that you often get some under-eye  puffiness from being on the road. a product that also works great and is cheap, is preparation h cooling gel. it sounds crazy, but it works.

really? wow. yeah that’s crazy.

absolutely. i use it almost every morning. it works super fast too. but i’m always sure to hide it in case anyone goes through my makeup bag and finds it. i don’t want to give them the wrong impression.

(laughs)

let’s get down to it and talk about your cat, snacks. is it mr. or mrs . snacks?

“mr.”

mr. snacks. amazing. is he aware that there is a cat show in santa monica? 250 + plus cats?

(laughs) yeah, that’s how i decided to get snacks. i wanted a rescue cat.

well, i think he is adorable, and if you ever need a cat sitter just let me know. (i’m pretty sure i have creeped her out a little bit at this time because all i hear is nervous laughter.)

*their set was amazing at FYF, and below are some images i was able to capture. i was also able to say a quick “hello” to bob, their bass player, after the set was over. turns out he uses “nothing” to help tame those luscious long locks of his. bob is a super cool guy! enjoy the picture i found online of bethany with mr. snacks.
